Young Families
Beth El Synagogue is highly regarded for its Young Families programming, targeting families raising Jewish children ages birth to 10 years old. Activities are planned both at Beth El and out in our communities. Highlights of programming include: Fall Orchard outing, Young Families Shabbat Dinners, Family FUNday Sundays, and more. Families do not need to be members of Beth El to participate. Contact our Director of Young Families Engagement, Amanda Awend, or visit our Facebook page for more information about upcoming opportunities to participate.
Shabbat and Holiday Children’s Programming
Children of all ages are welcome at all times at Beth El Synagogue. In fact, hanging outside the Spiegel Sanctuary are Grandma Fay’s Shul Bags. These bags contain “quiet toys” to enable children to have a fun and educational time experiencing Shabbat and holiday services with their parents in the sanctuary. There is also a “quiet room” alongside the sanctuary should a parent need to take an “unhappy” child out of the room, but still participate in the service.
Childcare and Babysitting
For those adults attending Saturday morning services, free childcare is available for children ages 2-5 years old from 9:00 am until the end of the service. Stories, games, free play and a short service (Tot Shabbat) are all components of this program, which takes place 52 weeks a year and is free of charge.
