Beyond Polarization: Bridging the Red/Blue Divide in Communities
Sunday, November 18 | 10:00 am | Beth El Synagogue
We may live in the most divisive time since the 1850s. In this presentation you will see how people with very different political viewpoints can come to understand one another beyond stereotypes and find common ground. Learn specific skills for talking with loved ones on the other political side and learn about the Better Angels local and national effort to show how we can have sharp political differences without denigrating and demonizing one another.
Facilitated by nationally recognized and popular speaker, Prof. William J. Doherty, Director of the Marriage and Family Therapy Program, U.M.
Follow up by attending the Better Angels Skills Workshop to learn and practice specific ways to talk with loved ones on the other side of the political divide.
The workshop will be facilitated by trained Better Angels facilitators and will include a presentation, discussion and the opportunity to practice conversation skills.
People of all political leanings are welcome and encouraged to attend. We value diverse opinions and viewpoints.
This event is free, but registration is required.
