So You Wanna Blow a Shofar: History, Tradition, and Technique of Sounding the Shofar
The Mishneh Torah describes the shofar’s blast as symbolic, saying “Awake, you sleepers! Awake from your sleep!” As we enter the month of Elul, we begin the process of “waking up” our souls by doing the spiritual work of heshbon hanefesh in preparation for Rosh Hashanah. Join us for “Shofar 101” as we learn the techniques used to blow the shofar, and discuss the history and meaning of the ram’s horn and its sounds.

Are the ancient prayers and blessings that we say truly the pre-curser to mindfulness, of helping us to develop an attitude of gratitude, of living in the present and how can this help you get into the High Holiday spirit?
