Beth El Synagogue, a Conservative Jewish congregation, requests proposals for the development of the script for a permanent historical exhibit to be housed in the Beth ESynagogue Building at 5225 Barry Street West in St. Louis Park, MN. This Script Development project is Phase 3 in a 4-phase project. Phase 1, a research project (Beth El Synagogue 1920-Present: Jewish Tradition Enriching Minnesota Life) chronicling the history of Beth El and cataloging the various documents and artifacts available for inclusion in a permanent exhibit, was completed in 2016. Phase 2, Exhibit Planning, produced a comprehensive plan for the physical exhibit, including expansion on the exhibit’s central themes, and outlined materials, artifacts, media and aesthetics. The selected vendor will have full access to all the materials from Phases 1 and 2 for reference in script development.
The product of this project will be a detailed script for the permanent exhibit. The scope of work will include:
• Storytelling and detailed label writing
• Inclusion of multiple voices identified in the research and exhibit plan
• Specification of all graphic images, maps, diagrams and artifacts to be used in the exhibit
• Finalization of A/V, interactive and participatory exhibit elements
• Confirmation of acquisition (owned or purchased) of all necessary images
Successful proposals will include:
1. Strategy and timeline for completing the work
2. Examples of previous similar work
3. References, recommendations and/or testimonials
Successful bidder will be chosen based on the following criteria:
1. Experience writing scripts for historical exhibits
2. Knowledge of Beth El Synagogue and/or local Jewish history
3. Competitive pricing
4. Availability to complete the project in the September 2018 – January 2019 timeframe
5. Availability and capability to continue with project through Design/Build phase (additional bids may be required for future participation)
