On Pesach, we are not to own any chametz, fermented grain products. But to empty and discard our cupboards completely would be a waste of resources. Therefore, we sell our chametz (called “Mekhirat Chametz”). While the items can remain in our locked cabinets, selling them enables us to rid ourselves of all that spiritually sours our lives. Annually, we help orchestrate the sale of your chametz by inviting you to appoint a Beth El rabbi as your agent in the sale. This can be done in person, but more often than not it is done online. It’s easy, accessible and important step in preparation for the Passover holiday.

Beth El will not be holding a second seder this year. However, we do want to ensure that everyone who wants to attend a seder finds a place. Please contact lrappaport@bethelsynagogue.org if you are willing to host guests at your seder, or if you are looking for a table to join.
